Oh Valentine’s Day. Such a sweet and joyful holiday; a time we celebrate love and friendship. And what a perfect opportunity to practice skills used the rest of the year, too! Need to fill out valentines for friends and neighbors? It’s a great time to practice penmanship, and review the capital letter at the beginning of proper nouns rule.

And don’t forget the outside of the envelope! It’s an ideal platform for drawing heart shapes, practicing rubber stamping skills, glitter glue, and placing stickers. Need help practicing coloring inside the lines? I bet you may have an elderly neighbor who would love a hand drawn heart colored cheerfully by a young one!

And the art projects…oh the art projects! I could spend all day listing out ideas, but instead, I’ll share one of my favorites. The “Pipe Cleaner Pony Bead Heart.”

And the best part? It’s super easy, and super quick. You’re going to love it, and so are your kids! This one is best for ages 4 and up, due to the small beads it involves. Other than the beads, it’s one you can do anywhere because it’s not messy…no glue, no scissors at all. Once done, these can be hung on your Valentine’s Day tree, door knobs, stair banisters, drawer pulls, and more!

This is my absolute favorite Valentine’s Day children’s book! I hope you and your students enjoy it as much as me and mine did.

Please follow the picture directions to make this quick but cute project at your house. All you’ll need are beads and pipe cleaners! Have fun, and sprinkle some joy over all you do today.
